Fabric manufacturing processes-1

Some important terms

  1. Weave:- weave means design of fabric
  2. Weaving:- weaving is a process in which warp and weft yarns are interlaced with each other
  3. Warp and weft :- warp and weft is two basic components used in weaving process. Lengthwise and longitudinal yarn is  known as warp yarn. Widthwise yarn is known as weft yarn. Each individual threads in a fabric is known as warp yarn.
  4. Shedding:- separating the warp yarn into two layers by lifting or lowering the shafts to form a tunnel known as 'Shed'
  5. Pick: When warp yarn are stay stationery in a tension on a loom. While the the transverse weft yarn are drawn through and inserted in and under the warp yarn. A single thread of weft crossing the warp yarn is known as a pick.
  6. Picking:- weft yarn insertion process is known as picking.
  7. Beating up:- pushing the newly inserted weft yarn back into the fell off the cloth by using the reed
  8. Let off:- The warp yarn are unwound from the warp beam during the above three process.
  9. Take off:- The woven fabric is wound on the cloth beam during the above three process.
